The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) at the Lake Nona, FL, VA Medical Center, located at 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827, is looking to hire two full-time hourly Food Service Worker Supervisors for Patient Dining Service. These positions aim to ensure high-quality service for our nation's veterans. Responsibilities Tour of Duty: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, including weekend/holidays. Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Sets up and breaks down assigned station with the correct supplies and food items. Selects and places correct items on patient trays Reads and interprets regular or modified menus, individual diet cards, tray tickets or patient selections. Identifies obvious discrepancies between the prescribed diets and the food items designated by the menu. Sets up dining room tables for service, place food and beverages on tables, and replenish items as necessary. Delivers meal trays to the patients' bedsides; reporting the patients' comments and complaints to their Supervisor or Dietitian. Provides assistance to cooks in the food preparation area, such as weigh, measure and assemble ingredients according to standardized recipes. Prepares fresh fruit/cold salads/dressings/sandwich fillings and cold sandwiches and simple cold desserts. Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas. Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Excellent customer service skills ServSafe Certification Portion control and inventory management Basic computer, mathematical, technical skills Minimum of one (1) year experience in a cafeteria and/or fast-food environment Working knowledge of, and experience with, food service procedures/standards, equipment, and ability to train lower graded workers. Knowledge and experience of proper food handling, sanitation principles, proper dating/FIFO, and temperature monitoring to safeguard food against spoilage and waste. Ability to organize daily tasks Ability to develop and train in a mentor capacity. Requires constant standing, walking, and frequent bending. Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Education Additional Information
