YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an independent professional management position in the Division of Community Health Promotions and under the direction of the Director of Community Health Promotions. This position will serve as the program manager for the Violence and Injury Prevention program. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This position is also responsible for managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the violence and injury prevention program activities: Infant Mortality Prevention, Action, Community Collaboration Initiative (IMPACC); Florida Healthy Baby Initiative (FHB); Human Trafficking; Domestic and Sexual Violence; Suicide Prevention; Healthy Aging; and General Safety, to include drowning prevention, motor vehicles, brain injury and opioid. This position is crucial in creating and implementing comprehensive strategies to reduce the incidence of violence and injuries within the Department of Health – Orange and the community. This position plays a key role in identifying risk factors, developing prevention initiatives, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and communities. Provide day-to-day management and administrative oversight of violence and injury prevention local programs by formulating and implementing current and long-range plans, polices, procedures, regulations, and budget establishment. Supervises, coordinates, directs, and evaluates the performance of direct reports. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and orienting employees; provide ongoing educational opportunities; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; scheduling; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervise direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Ensure all staff complete required training and are offered additional training as applicable. Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports involved in violence and injury prevention efforts. Develop and implement violence and injury prevention programs, policies, and procedures, aligned with organizational goals and best practices. Directs activities in the areas of violence and injury prevention promotion. Provides evidence=based research to support program planning, development, and evaluation. Develop program objectives and allocate resources to address identified needs. Assist in grant management including writing reports, preparing action plans, quarterly reports, work plans, preparing statistical and narrative reports, budget development and monitoring, and attending grant meetings. Coordinate violence and injury prevention promotion and health education programs and activities with other agencies, civic, and professional groups. Evaluates program activities and outreach to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the services and initiates quality improvement processes when necessary. Conduct thorough assessments of violence and injury risks, identifying key areas for intervention and mitigation. Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to violence and injury trends, identifying patterns, and recommending evidence-based interventions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and community partners to design, implement, and evaluate prevention initiatives. Engage with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and enhance collective efforts in preventing violence and injuries. Collaborates with a wide range of partners to improve the health of the community. Facilitates activities in alignment with public health accreditation standards and measures. Advocates for health promotion and public health education through participation in workshops or on planning boards, health care projects, advisory council, and professional civic organizations. Represent the Health Department on varies committees and coalitions. Develop and deliver training programs to increase awareness and knowledge of violence and injury prevention strategies among staff members, community members, and relevant organizations. Stay informed about current research, trends, and emerging practices in violence and injury prevention, incorporating relevant knowledge into program development. Advocate for policies and regulations that support violence and injury prevention, collaborating with policymakers and advocacy groups. Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of violence and injury prevention initiatives, preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders and management. Perform other public health duties as required including Special Needs Shelter duties and Disaster Preparedness response which may require working beyond normal scheduled hours in the event of emergency, natural disaster, outbreaks, or bioterrorism. Performs other assigned duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Minimum Qualifications:

A current Department of Health employee

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health promotion, community health education, or a related field.

Two years of verifiable professional supervisory or management experience.

Verifiable professional violence and prevention experience.

Verifiable professional experience in planning, implementing, conducting, and executing population violence and injury prevention activities, presentations and events related to violence and injury prevention.

One year of verifiable professional experience in collecting, compiling, and analyzing information and data and producing written reports.

One year of verifiable professional experience in developing and managing relationships with key partners, community leaders, organizations, and key stakeholders.
