The University of Florida IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit (PSREU) Located on Hwy 318 in Citra, FL is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator I. This is a full-time position with a full benefits package. Operates Semi/Tractor Trailer utilized for moving equipment and Federal Excess Property within and beyond the boundaries of Florida. Completes pre-trip inspection when transporting items. Assess truck and trailer to ensure all DOT guidelines are met prior to departure. Operates Front End Loader/Backhoe/Forklift: Front End Loader – utilized to clear/prepare land etc. Backhoe – utilized for digging ditches, clearing site. Forklift – utilized for loading and removal of equipment from trucks. Operates Bulldozer, Road Grader, Roller Compactor: utilized to clear path and provide final grade for roadways, building foundations or general grade applications, and off-site statement. Operates Farm Tractors utilized in the overall mission for field research at the Plant Science Research & Education Unit. Maintain all portable and set generators for emergency power outages. Perform monthly checks on set generators. Helps in catastrophic events around the state with emergency response for IFAS.
