A local leader in transportation and logistics seeks an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily pickup and delivery operations. We are headquartered in Miramar, FL and specialize in small package delivery throughout the state. We have been in business since 2000 and are currently expanding at a rapid rate which has created an opening within our managerial team.

We are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and contract Owner Operators that collectively run 100-150 jobs per day. Our Owner Operators utilize cars, cargo vans, and trucks to make deliveries to and from local airports and businesses. Our drivers are independently motivated to maximize daily production leading to desired levels of income.

We are situated in an industry that is exploding with opportunity and growth. The Operations Manager being sought must be able to lead a group of drivers and personnel in a professional yet creative style that embraces the need to change and adapt to the demands of our client base while meshing the wants and wellbeing of our drivers and employees. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and demonstrated the ability to work within a team in hands-on, fast paced work environments.

Responsibilities

Driver training and reinforcement of customer expectations

Directs the flow of packages and modifies routing accordingly

Interacts with customers to ensure high levels of service and intervenes to resolve delivery concerns regarding delayed or missing orders.

Effectively forecasts and communicates staffing needs.

Conducts driver meetings to develop morale, communicate operational changes, identify service deficiencies, etc

Optimizes delivery routes to ensure performance, efficient deliveries, and cost effective routing

Routinely analyzes route structure

Performs daily and weekly tasks related to driver and employee payroll ensuring accuracy and that budgetary goals are being met

Collaborates with dispatch, human resources, management and accounting to optimize processes

Ensures compliance to legal regulations and company policies

Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience (3 or more years) as a Manager, in the logistics or courier field. Transportation and logistics experienced preferred. Ability to oversee a staff that 10 people

Solid knowledge of logistics procedures

Computer savvy with strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel)

Strong understanding of and prior responsibility for cost control and reporting

Experience in directing and evaluating a large and diverse driver fleet

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Attention to detail

Problem-solving abilities in a fast paced environment

Valid Drivers' License

SCHEDULE:

Onsite office hours must be maintained Monday through Friday, especially during peak times, weekends and holidays may also be required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees. Must be able to read, speak, write and understand Basic English. Must have good interpersonal communication skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three (3) years experience in transportation management or related role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work environment characteristics and physical demands described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands and fingers, handle objects or controls, talk and hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee may be required to travel locally and will be exposed to normal driving conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

STARTING SALARY: Based on prior experience and will consist of an annual base to start in addition to an annual bonus.
