The City of Parkland has an opening for a Full-time Maintenance Technician-Streets position. This position performs a wide variety of manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks required to perform maintenance and repair tasks of City-owned facilities and infrastructure. Depending on the area of assignment, the employee would need some acquired skills in the use of hand tools and power tools to perform a variety of tasks. The incumbent may also operate a variety of equipment requiring skill and manual dexterity such as, but not exclusive, street sweepers, small bulldozers, front-end loaders, dump, roll-off, claw, or crane trucks. An incumbent in this class may be responsible for cleaning and maintenance which requires building and grounds maintenance tasks in an assigned area in addition for being responsible for performing a variety of other tasks.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED.

Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Must possess FEMA 100, 200, and 700 certifications, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work environment is typically performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

May be exposed to toxic fumes, caustic chemicals, various wildlife and vermin.

The incumbents in this position will be required to work pre, during and post emergency operations related to tropical storms, hurricanes, tornados, floods, fires or acts of terrorism.

HOURS Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

PAY RATE- $16.86 an hour.
