Description Robert Half is looking to bring a short-term contract-to-hire Payroll Specialist with exceptional organization skills and know-how into a growing organization. As the Payroll Specialist, you will function as a member of the business's human resources and accounting departments to guarantee that workers receive their compensation and that employers deduct the proper amounts from payroll. Process payroll in a timely manner using the payroll system.

Verify and input employee data such as hours worked, commissions, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments.

Review timesheets and resolve any discrepancies or issues.

Calculate and process payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local withholdings.

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to payroll processing, including FLSA, IRS regulations, and state/local tax laws.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including paychecks, tax deductions, and benefits deductions.

Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll journal entries for accounting purposes.

Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure accurate employee data and seamless integration of payroll and HR systems.

Assist in preparing payroll reports, including earnings summaries, tax filings, and other ad-hoc reports as needed.

Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and process improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Proven experience as a payroll specialist or in a similar role.

Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.

Experience with ADP, Workday, or similar payroll systems preferred.
