Pull specimens from archived sample repository. That specimens pulled for processing and examined specimen. Update archive sample manifest to assure accuracy and quality according to established procedures. Processes specimens. Perform RNA extraction on samples using King Fisher or MP96 extraction protocol to isolate and purify target RNA. Inventory. Maintain sufficient inventory and supplies necessary to perform testing. DNA Library Preparation. Perform and lead library preparation, conversion of RNA to DNA with RT (reverse transcriptase), viral quantification using Qubit Flex and Agilent tape station, serial dilutions to reach desired concentration, magnetic nano bead post-amplification clean up. Performs quality control and quality assurance procedures. Daily and weekly maintenance of sequencing instrumentation, enters data into specimen log and results database, gives results to supervisor for data review and approval. Maintains a clean and orderly workplace. Autoclaves and disposes of biohazard waste, washes and stores reusable glassware, plastic ware, and equipment, puts supplies away and stores chemicals/reagents, and files paperwork and worksheets. Performs related work as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in Molecular Biology and techniques. Experience in Biochemistry and techniques. Experience in Microbiology and cell culture techniques. Knowledge of safety protocols. Experience with laboratory equipment: pipettes, centrifuge, thermocycler, qubit, sequencers. SKill in data analysis software. Ability to solve problems and critical thinking. Skills in designing and conducting experiments. Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in molecular modeling techniques and software. Ability to analyze and interpret complex biological data. Ability to collaborating with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records. Qualifications: Minimum:Qualify for a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory License as a Laboratory Technician. Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological sciences.
