Sr Damage Assessor

SUMMARY: Provide a fair and accurate on site evaluation of damage or loss caused by accident or natural event. Assess and record the extent of the damage, resources required and possible execution based upon the request of the client. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify primary and secondary electrical facilities including poles, primary wires, secondary wires, services, primary insulator, transformers, fuses, reclosers, regulators, OCS’s substations etc.

Identify and differentiate the difference between electrical, cablevision and telephone lines.

Identify all necessary repairs required for restoration.

Complete client specified damage reports in detail

Determine distribution crew type(s) needed for restoration of facilities as well as assign and schedule the work.

Ensure crews have proper materials for restoration work.

Complete any follow-up work required by the utility.

Comply and adhere to electrical distribution safety rules as well as follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Semi-routine;majority of work covered by established procedures.

RELATIONSHIP OUTSIDE WORK GROUP: Exchange of information, which occasionally requires tact and/ordiplomacy.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct and coordinate the activities of a two-man team assigned to patrol distribution lines damaged by ice, wind, or other causes. Provide leadership for 3-5 assessment teams if required.

ATTENDANCE - Must be available for work the daily hours as required by utility’s work schedule and until completion of the restoration work and released by the utility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Education:

High schooldegree or GED required.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in utility distribution or transmission systems (engineering, operations, or construction) required.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS: A valid state driver’s license is required.

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING AND/OR REQUIRED ITEMS/TOOLS:

The following items are required for this role prior to reporting to duty. Items marked + will be furnished by Pike Engineering:

Vehicle + Reflective Vest (Class III)

Hard Hat + Binoculars

Safety Glasses + Surveyor’s Tape

Dielectric Overshoes (if required by the client) + Hard Toe Boots

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simpleinstructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to writesimple correspondence. Ability to respondto common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unitsof measure, using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals.Ability to performthese operations using units of American moneyand weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate,ratio, and percentand to draw and interpretspread sheets.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved writtenor oral instructions. Ability to deal with problemsinvolving few concretevariables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLSAND ABILITIES:

Ability to read and follow distribution circuit maps.

Ability to utilize binoculars, cell phones and two-way radios.

Must be physically capable of walking out power line right of ways under various weather and terrain conditions. Weather conditions may include snow, ice or high heat/humidity. The terrain conditions may include but are not limited to, off road rural areas in swampy or overgrown right of ways or mountainous terrain.
