Performs assessments, care and/or treatments primarily in the Maternity/Family Planning/Sexual Health & GYN Clinics.

Advises patients and families on proper health care, interprets medication directions and factors related to patients’ condition for maintenance of good health status.

Demonstrates ability to provide nursing care as well as education to the patients.

Participates as a team member in obtaining and recording patient’s health, social histories and assessing patient needs.

Assist Providers as needed for the total care of all patients, assist with discharge plans for clinic patients.

Receive and review lab, recording correct results in patient medical record.

Completes follow ups within HMS in a timely manner.

Reviews lab consultation reports, making appropriate disposition.

Maintain a data base for needed reports on abnormal PAP reports.

Cross trained to assist as needed with adult Immunizations.

Performs immunization assessment and gives vaccines as needed.

Assist with data collection and documentation as required.

Does triage for walk-in patients without appointments and telephone triage.

Schedules referral appointments, return follow up appointments for patients.

Assist in orientating new nurses and works as a preceptor for new nurses in the Maternity/Family Planning/STD & GYN department as directed to do so by supervisor.

Participates in scheduled team meetings for discussion and management of patient care. Participates in planned in-service education sessions and Quality Assurance program.

May be required to float to other Health Department clinics within the county as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This occupation requires licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27 or Certification as a Physician's Assistant in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.
