Job Description
Understanding of stormwater, sewer, and subsurface drainage systems, including installation and maintenance.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, site plans, and specifications.
Knowledge of different pipe materials (PVC, concrete, HDPE), bedding, alignment, and gradient requirements.
Understanding elevations, slopes, and laser levels to ensure proper flow of water.
Familiarity with excavators, trenchers, compactors, and other heavy machinery (even if not operating them directly).
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices for excavation.
Enforcing safety standards and conducting toolbox talks.
Keeping accurate records of work done, inspections, material use, and crew hours.
Ensuring installations meet engineering specs and local codes.
Small errors in grade or slope can cause major drainage failures
Job Requirements
Leadership and Supervisory Skills: Team Management, communication, problem Solving, time Management, training and Mentoring.
Ten (10) years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges
All work is performed outdoors in all types of weather, including extreme heat. Job requires long hours of standing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, squatting and walking.
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds individually, and up to 150 pounds with assistance
Manual dexterity to handle and carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools
Capable of operating concrete vibrators for extended periods of time
Physical dexterity to pour, grade and finish concrete, involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions
Maintain constant awareness of the jobsite’s various concurrent activities, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment
The Drainage Foreman must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
