General responsibilities include admissions work, preparing the patient for examination or treatment, operating diagnostic equipment, and performing diagnostic procedures. Also includes responsibility related to documenting in patient's medical records, lab documentation of insurance information, lab follow-up and appointments and assisting with maintaining medical records. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Perform the following administrative procedures: Computer data entry, including, but not limited to EARS, HMS, Provide, CAREWare, and People First entry of timesheets. Also, responsible for assisting with inventory of laboratory and medical supplies for ordering as required. Ensures adequate supplies in exam rooms and lab. Comply with bio-hazardous waste policy. Keep current with new and changed policies. Perform laboratory tests and venipuncture. Complete lab requisitions, entry of lab information in HMS, eLabCorp, and other lab systems/modules as appropriate. Performs waived tests as appropriate and ensures cleaning/sterilization of equipment as well as performance of control tests and/or autoclave with supporting documentation. Duties also include documenting in lab logs, ensuring timely receipt of lab results, forwarding results to nurse or providers as appropriate, referral of critical lab values, and maintaining appropriate Quality Infection Control and Quality Management and other accreditation standards throughout the completion of lab procedures. Assists nurses and providers in the care and treatment of patients. Performance of general assistant procedures and tasks as necessary to assist nurses and providers in the clinical setting. Duties consist of exam room cleaning and setup, finger puncture for waived tests, chaperone providers, minor surgery assistance as needed, exam setup, patient care documentation, urine dipstick, vital signs, weights and heights, and other clinical functions as appropriate. Duties will also include patient communication, history taking, assistance with physical examinations and treatments, and ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments. Assist with completion of clinical logs, data entry for clinical reporting in HMS, Provide, referrals and other measures to ensure ongoing quality of care. Attend in-service education, staff meetings and health promotion activities as directed or indicated and perform other related duties as requested. RESPONSIBLE FOR TIMELY SUBMISSION OF TIME SHEETS. Information Custodian responsibilities include maintaining information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, regulations and Department of Health Security Policy 3 associated Protocols and Procedures as it relates to information Custodian, Delegation of Authority. This responsibility is to be adhered to 100% of the time. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Knowledge of basic pharmaceutical terminology and calculations. Knowledge of basic computer software. Skill in using medical instruments or testing equipment. Skills in using unit dose equipment, unit dose pump, and heat sealers. Skill in calibrating liquid unit dosing equipment and dose exchange systems. Skill in taking blood pressure readings. Ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to distribute prescribed medications. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Qualifications: Minimum -

At least six (6) months of verifiable experience as a Health Support Technician, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy or equivalent position working at a Primary Care, Family Practice, Hospital, or other clinic setting preparing patients for provider visit, obtaining vital signs, performing intake interviews, and documenting on patients’ charts.

Willing to perform emergency duty during disasters before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days.

Preferred -

Current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nurse Assistant

At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a lab, hospital or office setting

Experience working with the Ryan White Program and the service delivery system of care for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency virus) infected individuals

Bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole and fluently speak, read, and write both languages
