A mission that matters is just the beginning, so if you’re ready to get started, we’re ready for you.The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Alumni Peer Leader Specialist cultivates the relationships of Alumni team members and the volunteer wounded warriors who serve as WWP volunteers to connect, serve, and empower wounded service members and their families around the country. The Alumni Peer Leader Specialist supports the Alumni program by assisting with identification of and coordination of the vetting process for potential Alumni peer leaders, and by providing oversight of volunteer-led engagement activities and of the administrative functions of the volunteers.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish and maintain a standard method of communicating with all assigned peer leaders in order to strengthen teamwork and culture

Propose and execute regionally based training to be conducted, on an annual basis, as a refresher to initial volunteer training.

Oversee administration, logistics, support, and execution for the Alumni peer leader activities and personnel, including volunteer development and coaching, formal recognition, and annual performance reviews.

Identify and coordinate vetting of potential Alumni peer leaders in conjunction with the manager.

Develop and facilitate virtual programming content via Zoom, Facebook Live, and other technology-based platforms.

Support planning of peer leader events, specifically Peer Support Groups and Warrior-led activities.

Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with WWP teammates across the country to develop and implement impactful events and activities to connect, serve, and empower wounded warriors.

Assist the Peer Leader Trainers with planning and execution of Peer Leader Training Summits.

Attend Alumni events, recreational events, and fundraising events, and support programs as appropriate.

Maintain current and accurate data in WWP intranet electronic tracking systems, e.g., SalesForce.

Regularly communicate and network with wounded warriors, serving as a resource and mentor.

Communicate the benefits of WWP programs and services to members of the community and encourage them to become involved with and support the WWP vision.

Ensure proper expense controls and accurate records.

Perform Alumni teammate duties as necessary to support the Alumni program.

Other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated volunteer management skills. Demonstrated ability identify and coordinate appropriate volunteer leaders and oversee engagement activities.

Demonstrated experience in a training environment creating or augmenting curriculum.

Demonstrated experience with the logistics and responsibilities associated with event planning.

Ability to travel in support of WWP programs and services outreach.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

Four years of experience coordinating events or activities with volunteers. Three years of experience successfully performing in a WWP programmatic position may be substituted for the volunteer coordination experience.

Three years of experience developing and building relationships and partnerships, e.g. with military organizations, veteran’s associations, community partnerships, or corporate relationships.

Preferences

Four years of experience planning events or community activities, especially in a non-profit organization.

Four years of experience with volunteer management.

Three years of experience working with WWP, and having a familiarity of WWP programs and services.

EDUCATION

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of education, applicable military experience, training, and certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

Requirements

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

General office environment; temperature controlled

Participation in outdoor activities and events under varying weather conditions.

Up to 25% travel.

May require lifting/carrying items up to 25 pounds.
