Position Overview:
The Shipping clerk accurately weighs and purchases inbound and outbound scrap, Responsible for scheduling trucks and shipping containers to and from yard. Responsible for Bill of lading, weight tickets and coordinating with port authorities by phone and email. responsible for filing all paperwork associated with shipping and receiving. Provides payment to customers while providing excellent customer service. Responsible for entering all information onto the company database
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Maintain a positive attitude under stressful situations
- Ability to communicate effectively in English & Spanish a plus (not required)
- Computer experience & ability to learn in house data systems
- posses impeccable organizational skills
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency (0730-430 Pm Monday -Friday)
- Able to learn the systems the companies uses over the phone in a timely manner
Work Schedule to Include:
- Weekday (Monday-Friday) 07:30am-4:30pm
Description of Duties and Competencies
- Ensures good customer relations
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to learn in house database systems, computer skills
- Performs general office administration duties. (re-ordering supplies)
- Willing to cross-train in other positions and assists other employees as needed
- Schedule shipping with both trucking and port agencies
