Ensure all leave programs comply with federal, state, and local laws. Communicate leave policies and updates to employees and management.Interprets and administers programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.) Ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are monitored and effectively executed. Responsible for ensuring all STD and LTD claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases.Serves as the subject matter expert for leave programs in alignment with the university’s benefits leadership and legal department. Provides expertise and guidance in the creation and facilitation of leave administration programs.Employee Support and EducationProvide guidance and support to employees regarding their leave options, ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities. Conduct informational sessions and create resources to educate employees about leave policies and procedures. Address employee inquiries and resolve any issues related to leave.Advises employees and departments regarding decisions and appropriate actions or additional documentation required to ensure university compliance. Collaborate with other human resource areas to ensure employees receive pay and benefits to which they are entitled while on or returning from leave.Actively participates in the development, update, and presentation of training programs.Compliance and ReportingEnsure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee leave. Generate reports on leave usage and trends to support university planning and decision-making.Empowering UF ImplementationOver the next three years, this position will serve as the subject matter expert on absence management tracking for the Empowering UF project.Collaboration and CoordinationCollaborate with HR, payroll, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of leave policies and time tracking systems. Work with supervisors and managers to address leave-related issues and ensure consistency in policy application.
