The Division of Certified Public Accounting oversees the licensing and regulation of Florida licensed Certified Public Accountants and licensed firms in the state of Florida. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the investigation of licensed complaints alleging violations of Florida Statutes (455 and 473), and Florida Administrative Code (61H1). The Work You Will Do:

Investigate licensed complaints of alleged violations of Florida Statutes and Board Rules involving the Certified Public Accounting profession.

Interview Complainants, Subjects, and appropriate Witnesses.

Collects evidence, reviews court records, and other essential documents.

Prepares and serves notices to cease and desist, notices of non-compliance, and citations.

Prepares comprehensive, organized, chronological reports of final and supplemental investigations.

Timely enters required time and activity tracking in Department database.

Consults with, assists and acts as a liaison between the Division of Certified Public Accounting, the public, governmental agencies, and other Divisions within the Department.

Refers cases to appropriate regulatory and/or criminal agencies as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to appropriately apply Chapter 455 and Chapter 473, Florida Statutes and 61H1 of the Florida Administrative Code.

Knowledge of computer programs specifically Microsoft Office

Knowledge of how to use a document imaging system

Knowledge of investigative techniques.

Ability to conduct a thorough investigation.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Minimum Requirements :

Two (2) years of professional work experience in an organization performing regulatory investigations, accounting, financial, legal or criminal justice work.

A valid driver license is required.

An advanced degree can be substituted for one year of professional experience.

Preferred :

Preference may be given to those possessing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Experience working with a regulatory agency, accounting/finance or investigative experience.
