SIMEDHealth is currently looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join us in our Pharmacy in our main Gainesville, FL office location. This is a very busy department within SIMEDHealth so we are looking for someone with high energy who is comfortable in this type of setting.
The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role by assisting the Pharmacist in the preparation of the prescriptions: data entry, counting and labeling medications, ordering and checking in orders, and initiating calls to doctors in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Qualified candidates will have:
Minimum 2-3 years working experience in retail pharmacy
Experience with insurance verification, 3rd party insurance plans
High School Diploma or equivalent REQUIRED
Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician REQUIRED
Pharmacy Technician National Certification PREFERRED
Proficient with computers
Detail oriented, organized and must have good customer service skills
The following are some of the duties which may be required of you as a Registered Pharmacy Technician:
Assist the pharmacist in the preparation of the prescriptions which includes:
Data entry into the computer system
Counting, weighing, measuring or pouring of medications
Labeling of prescription vials or bottles
Communication with insurance companies and patients about patient benefits
Retrieval of prescription files, patient files and profiles, and other similar records pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
Checking E-Force and verifying prescriptions with the doctors office
Managed Care Insurance
The Pharmacy Technician may also assist in record keeping:
Entering of controlled substances
Ordering and checking in orders
Billing
Initiate communication to a prescribing practitioner or their medical staffs (or agents) regarding patient prescription refill authorization requests, prior authorizations and formulary changes.
