Initiates and receives communications, via telephone, radio, email or other computer systems.
Communicates verbally, or in writing, promptly, courteously and accurately while maintain poise at all times.
Appropriately refers any problems or issues beyond scope of authority to Security Manager on Duty and the Hospital Manager on duty.
Follows standard procedures and uses personal protective equipment per policy at all times.
Documents in a timely manner all relevant safety and security information.
Patrols the hospital and other HCH properties as required.
Takes action as required, participating in all emergency codes and requests for assistance.
Able to act independently, managing critical situations that may involve aggressive behavior.
Takes action as necessary to ensure the safety of Hospital Associates, patients and visitors.
Assists in moving, lifting or dragging individuals to safety.
Assists in bringing safety equipment to the scene of an emergency or as required.
Assists in restraining individuals as necessary to maintain the safe environment of the hospital.
Assists in restraining individuals as required to prevent those individuals from placing themselves or others in harm's way
Participates as an active member of various Security and Safety committees
Serves as a departmental resource specialist, consulting on Safety and Security issues to all Associates.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to Protective Services throughout The Holy Cross Hospital.
Reviews all departmental Security and Safety Policies and Procedures on an ongoing basis
As directed, evaluates the effectiveness of Protective measures throughout the hospital through reports.
Prepares recommendations and documentation that provides direction to correct reported deficiencies
Recommends action plans to department managers based on regular protection audits
Prepares and submits reports of audits to various safety committees and administration
Reviews the following daily: security related incidents and reports of Associate injury, and other related security hazards.
As directed, documents monthly safety data and prepares reports for the Manager of Protective Services
As directed, conducts Security and Safety investigations of significant incidents
As directed, develops curriculum and conducts Security and Safety awareness programs throughout the Hospital.
Participates in the on going in-service education of the hospital personnel and others as it relates to the safety and security of the Hospital.
Demonstrates expertise in facilitating adult learning.
Reviews safety and security reports, prepares analysis and assists in the implementation of Holy Cross Hospital Healthcare Protection Program.
As directed participates in orientation of new employees to the Safety and Security Program.
Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other learning experiences
Remains informed of current trends in Hospital Security and Safety. Serves as a role model, participating in professional organizations and community activities.
Minimum Requirements
Valid FL Driver's License
State of Florida Class D Security License required upon hire
Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Safety Administration, Security, or other related field supplemented with at least one year of experience in a high public interaction position requiring the use of effective interpersonal skills. (note: equivalent related military experience or work experience in law enforcement, fire department, or emergency response service may be substituted for the educational requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager)
Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic computer skills
Must achieve a passing score on "Management of Aggressive Behavior" after employment.
