As a peer mentor, your goal is to help families & individuals understand the vast array of services and opportunities that exist for an individual with a barrier to employment.
GOALS
To provide mentors an opportunity to assist students with disabilities. The mentors will be able to foster academic success and encourage campus involvement to students they are mentoring.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in Peer Mentor training and retreat (1 day)
Meet regularly with your mentee twice a month
Meet one-on-one with the coordinator of the program once a month
Serve as a role model and reliable resource
What is your favorite candy bar?
Introduce mentees to services and activities in the community.
Serve as a liaison between BCS and your mentee
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma
A personal understanding of the barriers to employment
Familiarity and sensitivity to students with disabilities possible transitional challenges
An aspiration for helping others.
Mentor opportunity open to students with and without disabilities
