DescriptionThis is a Temporary Position.This position controls the admittance of vehicles and traffic flow for multiple scales and traffic lanes and the materials disposed of and/or recycled in Solid Waste designated facilities for the general public.Duties and Responsibilities

Record and maintain vehicle weights at the Waste to Energy facility.

Screen loads, direct customers, monitor radiation equipment and handle cash transactions.

Control vehicle admittance and traffic flow at three scales and one bypass lane.

Open/close the facility and determine charges based on load size/weight.

Issue tickets, reconcile cash, and operate the computerized scale system.

Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support the Solid Waste Department with records for regulatory purposes.

Maintain scale building cleanliness and perform scale maintenance.

Prepare deposits, balance receipts, and manage inventory.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED and one (1) year of fast-paced, professional customer service or closely related experience in high volume, fast-paced, and high-stress environments such as convenience stores, banks, casinos, and/or restaurants within the last six years to include handling a minimum of 200 cash transactions and making change within an 8-hour shift.

Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

Supplemental Information

Bilingual preferred.

Strong customer service skills are essential.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Knowledge of solid waste material classifications (horticultural, recyclables, construction and demolition debris, special waste).

Ability to maintain records, count, and total collected data.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday 10:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., with additional rotational Saturdays 5:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You may be required to work overtime.EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed.
