Pool Technician (Repairs & Installation)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position reports to the General Manager and provides pool repair and installation service to customers in the field.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or general educational degree (GED). Plumbing, electrical and mechanical experience preferred. This position requires a mechanically inclined individual who is willing to work in the field at client's homes based on leads received. The position requires the work be completed to a high standard, and to the customer’s satisfaction. Follow-up visits may be required. Excellent customer service skills required.

We are looking for someone that is interested in working on a commission basis (per job) and at least 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION (TECHNICIAN):

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and go above and beyond to meet customer expectations.

Troubleshooting, repair and replacement of swimming pool equipment such as motors, filters, pumps, lights, salt systems, automation systems, and plumbing repairs, etc.

Daily workload varies with season, usually between 2 to 5 work orders per day.

Customer service of job assigned is #1 responsibility

Monitor and control individual parts inventory.

Complete paperwork relevant to repairs.

Maintain pool repair profitability by pricing accurately using store pricing sheet.

Schedule appointments and confirm time and date with customer (punctuality is critical).

Technician will be able to use a store employee to assist in delivering pool heaters when installation is required but must be scheduled in advance.

GENERAL RESPONSBILITIES:

Arrive on time and be ready to work at 9:00 am sharp.

Wear appropriate Pinch a Penny uniform.

Clean background check and driving record

Maintain professionalism at all times

Use of company van will be provided.

TECHNICIAN KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review service appointments and begin organizing appointments each morning.

Call new customers or follow-up with customers regarding service calls.

Set up all appointments between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm for all customers on appointment scheduling app.

Use store pricing procedures guide to charge customers for completed jobs.

Official new equipment quotes are to be provided for free.

Prepare work orders for any inventory taken out of the store.

Maintain proper inventory counts on all PVC.

Collect payment once job is completed on-site.

Use Square Chip reader to collect payment at customers residence

Customers feedback is provided after each service call to assess customer service levels and completion of work.

TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES ON FIELD SERVICE CALLS:

Must be professional and wear pinch a penny uniform when at a customer’s house

Must make appointments and be on-time for all appointments

Must call potential customers within 24 to 48 hours – no exception

If a customer calls within 30 days of installation or repair with an issue the mechanic must return to the house and correct the problem at no charge

Must never appear at a customer’s house unannounced without the permission of the owner

Must inform customer of price estimates including service call rate before going to the house

Must collect payments for all service call visits even if no work was performed

Must arrange and collect payment after job is complete (same day)
