We are seeking an experienced Head Chef & Kitchen Manager to lead our dynamic kitchen team. This full-time position involves managing all aspects of food preparation, kitchen operations, catering events, and staff coordination. We are a fast-paced operation providing local and satellite school meals, full-service catering events, and food sales/drop-off services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Menu Development & Operations:
Design creative menus for school meals, catering events, plated functions, and live stations
Automate event and food ordering processes
Create and implement effective kitchen and catering workflows
Kitchen Management:
Manage staff scheduling, training, and task assignments
Streamline food production and prep workflows
Maintain inventory and generate accurate shopping lists
Oversee organization of all storage areas, including freezers and refrigerators
Food Preparation & Production:
Schedule and supervise food production and packaging
Ensure proper storage and labeling of prepared foods
Catering Events:
Collaborate on event planning and logistics
Create detailed food packaging, equipment, and shopping lists
Coordinate with the catering office on staffing, transportation, and set-up
Cleanliness & Safety:
Enforce high sanitation and safety standards
Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules
Monitor stock of cleaning supplies
Daily Food Service:
Supervise daily food distribution
Create systems for efficient and timely service
Coordinate food/menu planning for special events
Employee Management:
Hire and onboard new kitchen staff
Manage staff scheduling and timekeeping
Kitchen Maintenance & Compliance:
Coordinate Health Department inspections
Oversee equipment maintenance, including grease trap and range hood servicing
Ensure all equipment is in working order and replaced as needed
Kosher Standard Compliance
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Proven experience in kitchen and team management
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of large-scale food prep and catering logistics
Ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Culinary training or certification (preferred but not required)
Compensation based on experience.
