Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The role is focused on maintaining and controlling the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the company, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Execute collections and ensure smooth cash flow in the company Conduct debit and credit operations accurately Handle the reconciliation of bank statements and accounts Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) including billing activities Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) operations Prepare and post journal entries Maintain and update the general ledger Perform monthly bank reconciliations Manage inventory accounting and maintain fixed asset inventory Utilize Microsoft Excel and other software to perform data entry and generate reports. Requirements Must possess a university degree in Accounting or related field Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Strong data entry skills Experience in billing and billing collection Familiarity with Collections and Consumer Collections Proficiency with Sage 300 software Experience in performing bank reconciliations and monthly bank reconciliation Ability to prepare and manage journal entries and journal entry preparation Knowledge of ledger journal entries and month-end journal entries Experience in posting journal entries Understanding of debits and credit processes Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Excel formulas Familiarity with food service operations and hotel management is a plus Experience in handling cash payments and cash posting Familiarity with asset inventory and annual inventory Knowledge of fixed asset inventory and inventory accounting Understanding of the general ledger and payroll processes Experience with BirchStreet Systems is a plus Familiarity with POS - Point of Sale systems is a plus.
