This position works in the Epidemiology Program and assists in the development of the yearly budget for the Epidemiology Department. This position is a key member of the Epidemiology Staff working closely with the Biological Scientist III. The position is designed to provide public health service and provide the best possible public health outcomes and related to Epidemiological Services. Reviews existing surveillance programs and devises new active and/or passive surveillance systems in collaboration with community members to enhance early detection of potential outbreaks, bioterrorism events, or diseases that occur naturally. Develops, maintains, and provides analysis of a computer-based data system in order to track the incidence, prevalence, risk surveillance, investigations and other related data. Manages assigned workloads to provide completion of investigations of individuals who are reported with communicable or reportable disease. This includes specific counseling, education and follow-up activities to affected patients, households, groups, institutions, or communities as appropriate to prevent further transmission or exposure. Collects and maintains data as well as provides analysis of data to track incidence, prevalence, risk factors and trends for disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor’s Degree in science with at least one year of experience, intermediate computer skills, and knowledge in epidemiological statistical methods. Qualifications: Minimum –

Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural

Bachelor’s Degree in science with at least one year of experience. An official transcript is needed to confirm your qualifications for this position.

Preferred –

Verifiable Knowledge of statistical methods relating to Epidemiology

Experience performing Epidemiological Investigations

Verifiable experience in public speaking
