The Roofing Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing residential, commercial, or industrial roofing systems. The role involves a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, patching leaks, replacing damaged shingles, sealing areas prone to moisture, and performing routine maintenance. The technician must have a strong understanding of roofing materials, techniques, safety protocols, and the ability to work at heights.
Key Responsibilities:
Roof Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of roofs to identify damage, leaks, and areas needing maintenance or repair.
Repair Work: Perform repairs on various roofing systems including asphalt shingles, metal, tile, flat roofs, and others. Tasks may include replacing broken shingles, sealing leaks, patching holes, or replacing damaged flashing.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including using fall protection equipment, securing ladders, and adhering to OSHA standards.
Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding the nature of repairs, estimated costs, and timelines for completion.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of work completed, including repairs, materials used, and any recommendations for further action or maintenance.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, supervisors, and crew members to complete projects on time and within safety regulations.
Material Handling: Safely transport and handle roofing materials, tools, and equipment.
Weather-Related Flexibility: Work in a variety of weather conditions, adjusting schedules as needed due to weather or client needs.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in roofing repair or construction; hands-on experience with various roofing materials is highly preferred.
Skills:
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and other roofing equipment.
Ability to identify different types of roofing issues and apply appropriate repair techniques.
Knowledge of building codes, roofing materials, and construction safety practices.
License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if travel between job sites is required).
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Asphalt shingles, slate, tile, metal roofing, and flat roofing systems.
Experience with: Commercial and residential roofing repair.
