Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report .Project Overview:The ML2 Project involves the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide a physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.Job Summary:In this role, you will oversee and manage the daily operations of the fabrication shop, including scheduling, production planning, resource allocation, quality control support, and safety protocols. Develop and implement operational procedures to streamline shop activities, enhance production efficiency, ensure a safe working environment, and minimize indirect costs. #LI-CL1Major Responsibilities:

Monitors and directs activities to support the project priorities and critical path fabricated assemblies.

Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement.

Ensure compliance with Bechtel safety regulations and policies, conducting regular safety inspections and promoting a culture of safety among Craft Professionals.

Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to equipment, production processes, or workforce challenges.

Coordinate with other departments such as procurement, logistics, and engineering to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery

Planning

Participates in short term work plan to identify and schedule critical path shop assemblies to support field installation.

Reviews and approves where necessary, staffing charts and material and equipment requirements.

Leads the shop operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

Safety / Quality

Monitors fabrication to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.

Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

Technical

Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.

Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.

Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Must have experience working with and supervising the Direct Hire workforce.

Must have experience working with and supervising USA Building Trades Unions.

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position.

Responsible for managing craft personnel in adherence to the Project Labor Agreement (PLA).

Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs requiring the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of steel construction operations.

Knowledge of and commitment to Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.

Knowledge of and commitment to the Project ES&H Handbook, Supervisors ES&H Manual, Project Safety Management Plan, and the Bechtel Core Processes.

Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to steel field activities.

Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).

Knowledge of OSHA subpart R steel erection.

Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.

Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment. Recent Bechtel experience as a Civil Superintendent at an EPC Project.

Requires a comprehensive understanding of fabrication shop operations.

Working knowledge of the Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and the related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) utilized by Construction.

Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.

Previous experience and understanding of labor relations and construction management functions on a construction project.

Must be able to effectively deal with unusual and unclear personnel situations in a positive manner.

Requires the ability to receive direction from multiple sources and effectively establish priorities.

Knowledge of the organizational structure and work practices of labor unions.
