Position Summary: The Center for Equitable Transit-Oriented Communities (CETOC), under the guidance of Dr. John L. Renne, is seeking a dynamic and innovative postdoctoral scholar with a strong background in data science and artificial intelligence. The candidate will be instrumental in advancing AI research in the realm of transportation planning, focusing on big data analysis, computer vision, and machine learning, with a particular interest in the built environment and transportation systems. This role will collaborate with a diverse team of experts and stakeholders to implement transformative solutions in transportation planning and infrastructure. This role aligns with CETOC's mission to promote transit-accessible, equitable, and resilient communities while preserving the environment. Key Responsibilities:· Engage in cutting-edge research utilizing AI and machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret complex transportation and built environment data.· Collect, wrangle, and manage travel behavior and built environment data from various sources, including possibly visual data sources· Develop innovative tools and strategies to aid in the planning and development of equitable transit-oriented communities.· Conceptualize new research projects that meet the goals of CETOC while leveraging AI research methods.· Duties may include community engagement and grant administration.This position is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and University Transportation Center grants. The postdoctoral scholar will work closely with staff and faculty, regularly in person, at the Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and a team of experienced professionals in transportation and data science.The position has the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
