FedNet, the leading provider of news transcripts has an opening on Capitol Hill for full time transcript copy editor supporting our coverage of Congress & State Legislatures. This positions entails editing verbatim written transcripts covering Floor Proceedings and Hearings. Successful candidates must be organized and be detail oriented, quick learners with great attitudes, possessing research aptitude on the internet, excellent data entry skills, a keen eye for unique terminology who adapt to project requirements. Consistently apply style guide and demand quality work product with minimal supervision. This is a perfect opportunity for recent college graduates (we will train) with a degree in English, Communications or Political Science.
Responsibilities: Ensure quality control and accuracy of published content for database using proprietary software to apply house style to event transcripts, correct typographical errors on continuous deadlines Identify and rectify discrepancies and errors in content. Verifying inconsistencies and solve data input problems as needed. Research and prepare data entry accurately and efficiently maintain quality and accuracy of content before publishing to proprietary online database Coordinate and manage remote editors. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Interest in politics, legislative tracking and above-average knowledge of Congress and key State Legislatures. Demonstrated ability to multi-task Quick and accurate editing skills Knowledge of AP Style Accurate data entry skills and scheduling experience is a plus Ability to work well under pressure while meeting consistent deadlines Ability to execute instructions and be trusted to work independently Editing experience in an online or print environment under daily deadline pressure preferred College degree or upperclassmen status at credentialed University.
