There are local and out-of-state runs that are available; you'll be accommodated with a hotel stay when you run an overnight load, but I have slept in the car sometimes at the truck stops and the hotels aren't always the nicest. I've been doing this for a while now, so I don't mind staying on the road for days or weeks at a time. We go all over. The furthest I've driven was Wisconsin, but you can go as far as you want to go. I've had drivers go as far as Texas and Iowa even. The more loads you deliver and the more miles you go, the more you'll get paid; it's a pay-per-load basis. You get paid bi-weekly and can potentially to make at between $150-$1600 a week (driving a company car) depending on your production, but weeks can be slow where you might not work as much, so you'll have to anticipate that. There are three positions to learn (chase, lead, high pole) and, respectively, your pay will increase at each ring on the ladder.
Furthermore, if you run with your own car, you can potentially earn more than you would if you drove a company car, but you'll have to take care of your own expenses (i.e. In order to get started, the driver has to schedule his/her own PEVO (Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator) Certification before they can begin driving.
