Tailoring shop in Old Town Alexandria is seeking a tailor to work with our team. Responsibilities include assisting with the altering, repairing, and construction of garments for our clients based on their specifications and preferences. We are accepting all applicants with experience ranging from advanced-beginner to master tailor.
Applicants meeting initial qualifications may be invited to the shop to demonstrate their abilities. This demonstration will help evaluate compatibility and potential compensation should position be offered post visit. Compensation will not be provided for initial visit.
We specialize in all areas of tailoring, including formal; bridal; professional; and casual wear. We pride ourselves in providing high-quality service to our clients with a commitment to maintaining a professional and welcoming environment within our shop. Requirements for Advanced-Beginner:
- General understanding of fabrics as well as clothing design and construction.
- Ability to use various sewing machines and commercial press.
- Competent in disassembling and marking of clothing in preparation for sewing.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Detail-oriented.
- Willingness to expand abilities through detailed training with master tailoring staff.
Additional Requirements for Master Tailor:
- Ability to modify garments according to instructions and with minimal monitoring.
- Repairing customers' garments to per-determined specifications agreed to by client.
- Proven experience working as a tailor.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Outstanding sewing skills.
- Effective communication skills.
Full-time and Part-time positions available with flexible work hours Monday-Friday.
