Choice Wine & Beer is a boutique wine and beer shop located in front of Costco in the Wheaton, MD mall.
We are looking for an Assistant Manager who will work closely with the owner/general manager to oversee the following:
- staffing/scheduling
- stock/merchandising
- beer/wine education (tastings with employees and customers)
- POS and cash management
- and general operation support of the store.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Kind and energetic customer service a must!
- 21 years of age or older
- Ability to be responsible for self and others
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to climb ladders
- Desire to work for a small company (about 5 total employees) and grow with the company.
- Maryland Alcohol Awareness Certified (if not, Choice will pay for you to take the class for certification)
- Good spoken and written communication in English
- Ability to work nights and weekends (A MUST!) Some morning shifts as well
- A desire to learn and grow with the company
COMPENSATION:
Start at $18/hour until Alcohol Awareness certification ($1/hour raise after training/certification). There is also the opportunity for performance-based bonuses. Another raise and possibility of salary will be discussed depending on performance after 30 days.
- Free beer and wine knowledge training including possibility of Cicerone and sommelier courses.
- Employee tastings to gain knowledge of product.
Choice Wine & Beer is employs about 4 people in part time positions. The Assistant manager would be the first full-time position offered and includes 30-40 hours per week.
We are open 7 days a week and pride ourselves on a large offering of local craft beer and fine wines you won't find at big box stores. Our employees are knowledgeable about product and positive community members. We take pride in being positive forces in our community.
