Compliance Officer (Tractor-Trailer Transportation)

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to ensure regulatory adherence within our tractor-trailer transportation company. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing transportation operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Regulatory Compliance Management: Monitor and interpret transportation regulations issued by agencies such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Ensure company operations align with these regulations.

2. Driver Compliance: Oversee driver compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, driver qualification files, licensing requirements, and drug and alcohol testing programs. Implement corrective actions for non-compliance issues.

3. Vehicle Compliance: Ensure tractor-trailers meet regulatory standards for safety and emissions. Coordinate regular inspections and maintenance to maintain compliance with vehicle weight limits, equipment standards, and emissions requirements.

4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of driver logs, vehicle inspections, maintenance records, and other compliance-related documents. Organize and store records in accordance with regulatory requirements.

5. Training and Education: Develop and conduct training programs for drivers and staff on compliance policies and procedures. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and disseminate relevant information to employees.

6. Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews to identify areas of non-compliance or potential risks. Develop and implement corrective action plans to address deficiencies.

7. Reporting: Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant agencies as required. Compile data and analytics related to compliance performance for management review.

8. Investigations: Investigate complaints, incidents, or violations related to compliance issues. Collaborate with management and legal counsel to address any legal or regulatory concerns.

9. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks related to compliance issues. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure ongoing compliance with regulations.

10. Vendor and Contractor Oversight: Ensure that third-party vendors and contractors comply with relevant regulations when providing services to the company. Monitor performance and address any compliance issues as necessary.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in transportation compliance or regulatory affairs, preferably in the tractor-trailer transportation industry.

Strong understanding of DOT regulations, HOS rules, and other transportation-related laws and regulations.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Certification in transportation compliance (e.g., Certified Transportation Professional) is a plus.
