Requirements

- Contractors must be able to stand for long periods of time on a tipping floor

- Contractors must be able to use job tools as provided (Air lances, Refuse hooks, rakes, brooms, shovels, etc.)

- Contractors will provide the necessary PPE to perform the task and the PPE must be worn.

- Contractors must be trained on Handling & Disposal of Non-Process-able and Hazardous Waste as well as Tipping Floor procedures

- Contractor must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

- Must have good oral and written English communication skills.

-Must be able to pass a background check

Job Duties

- Contractors will be stationed at the entrance fast door to the GP tipping floor. They will be assigned a radio to communicate with the loader operator and crane operator. Contractor will stop all traffic at the entrance door and assign them an unloading bay as directed by staff or as becomes vacant. Contractor will be aware of the tipping floor procedures and safety. Contractor will inspect loads for hazardous materials, un-shreddable materials and materials not processed by the facility. Contractor will also look for propane bottles and whole tires and set them aside to be moved to another location. Contractor will be “spotting” compactor trucks as well as tractor trailers.

- Contractor may be required to access rooftops and confined spaces with full-face respirators as well as hot/dusty environments.

- Contractor will keep the station and floor area clean and clear.

- Contractor must be familiar with working around moving heavy equipment as well as rotating machinery.

- Contractors may be assigned to the RTI tip floor as needed.

- Contractor will communicate with the contractor supervisor when assistance is needed. Contractors will have knowledge of the use of lock out/tag out and utilize this procedure when required.

- Contractor will have an understanding of hazardous materials and the appropriate action to take when hazardous materials are discovered.
