House Manager (with Meal Prep assistance)

We are a busy family of four based in Kensington, MD, with children aged 6 and 8 (both in full time school). We’re looking for a reliable, organized, and proactive House Manager to assist with household tasks, meal preparation, laundry, errands, and other light family support. Our ideal candidate is patient, anticipates needs, takes initiative, and has great communication skills. You’ll need to be comfortable with both routine and ad-hoc tasks while being a good communicator to ensure the home runs smoothly. We would also love someone who can identify areas of improvement within our home systems.

Employment Type: Part-time (15 hours/week, flexible)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP / May 5

Compensation: $28-$35/hour based on experience

Requirements: Non-smoker, pass background check, reliable transportation, English-speaking, vaccinated (general, COVID, and flu)

Proposed Schedule: Flexible, 3 days/week, approximately 5 hours/day (ideal) – primarily before 6 pm. Parent works from home.

Key Responsibilities:

- Household Management & Organization:

- Organize and declutter spaces, including closets, drawers, and kids’ rooms, and assist with seasonal clothing swaps.

- Coordinate donations, pickups, and ensure household items are stocked, including pantry staples, cleaning supplies, and personal care items.

- Maintain systems for managing family orders (Amazon, groceries, etc.).

- Meal Preparation (Collaborate with Family):

- Plan and prepare healthy meals, focusing on family favorites (no pork or shellfish).

- Assist with grocery shopping for meal prep and pantry items.

- Errands & Household Tasks:

- Run errands, including grocery shopping, Amazon returns, and picking up or dropping off dry cleaning.

- Coordinate and schedule car service appointments as needed.

- Laundry & Tidying:

- Manage laundry, including bedding, towels, and kids’ clothes.

- Fold, iron, and steam clothes for the upcoming week to ensure everything is ready.

- Tidying/helping to ensure the house is prepped for bi-weekly professional cleaners.

- Seasonal & Deep Cleaning:

- Take care of periodic deep cleaning tasks like cleaning out the fridge, seasonal clothing swaps, and seasonal bedding refreshes.

- Additional Tasks:

- Occasionally assist with packing for family trips or organizing home projects.

Additional Information:

This position offers flexibility in scheduling, with the ideal candidate working approximately 15 hours/week. There is potential for occasional babysitting, but this is not a primary focus of the role.
