The ideal candidate will be a hands-on manager who leads and is involved with our internal team's development to support the following areas: finance, operations, business planning, and budgeting, and human resources. The Director of Finance and HR will work closely with the Vice President and play a critical role in partnering with the principal leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as the National LGBTQ Task Force continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance and operations leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization. Responsibilities: Financial Management · Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting. Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments. · Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors' Finance Committee, and assess any changes necessary. · Oversee and lead internal annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep principal leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status. · Work with our CFO to manage organizational cash flow and forecasting. · Update and implement a robust financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to, and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements. · Update and implement policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's policy and procedure manual. · Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the Executive Team and CFO. Human Resources · Assist with recruitment and hiring processes for staff with a focus on equity and ensuring that Task Force employees are reflective of the vastness of the communities we serve; support intern and fellow hiring as needed.· Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategyrelated to staffing, recruiting, and retention· Assist with onboarding process to ensure each new employee is welcomed, positioned for success from the outset, and able to integrate seamlessly into the National LGBTQ Task Force.· Establish and manage a comprehensive training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies, and procedures. · Administer, Update, develop, and implement human resources policies and procedures. · Ensure compensation and benefits are in line with company policies and current legislation. · Implement and monitor performance management system. · Handle employee complaints, grievances, and disputes. · Help managers administer employee discipline processes. · Review and update employee rules and regulations quarterly. · Maintain the human resource information system and employee database. · Coordinate employee safety, welfare, and wellness. Counsel and advice to staff on personnel and work-related issues including providing guidance and direction to management team and employees on human resource related topicsParticipate in labor management processes, including serving as a representative for management, interacting with employment and labor counsel, and supporting grievance processes to be fair and timely · Thoughtfully cultivate a productive relationship with the collective bargaining unit(s) Work with staff and management to facilitate staff development and training opportunitiesCommunicate and ensure compliance and consistency with office practices and policies and compliance with all employment related lawsKeep informed and up to date regarding industry standards and best practices related to non-profit personnel managementWorkplace Culture · Organize routine workplace opportunities for team building and alignment, including monthly staff meetings, retreats, staff lunches, and other events as needed · Partner closely with management and employees to strengthen and improve work relationships, minimize burnout, and increase retention · In collaboration with the Executive Team, support internal communications and keep staff informed of organization-wide announcements and changes · Directly partner with managers to utilize avenues for assessment and accountability, including regular supervision and employee evaluations · Provide counsel/guidance to supervisors and senior team members · Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for employees, creating a dynamic culture of continuous learning, curiosity, collaboration, and impact · With the Vice President, design, and lead organization-wide initiatives towards increased equity and inclusion for all employees Qualifications:People/Finance/ Operations Experience: Minimum of a B.A., ideally with a Finance/CPA/HR or related degree. A minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, human resources, and people management. Substantial Human Resources experience with employees from LGBTQ, transgender and gender non-conforming, BIPOC, disabled, and immigrant communities. Experience with employment and/or labor law. Strong background in transformative or restorative justice, with a commitment to uplifting humanity and dignity in every person. Experience supporting a national, hybrid remote workforce and working and/or managing employees in a unionized workplace is a plus.Leadership: Previous leadership experience—at least 5 years in a leadership or management role, preferably at a nonprofit. Demonstrated success leading teams through periods of growth and change.Supervision and Management Experience: A minimum of 5 years of supervision and a commitment to mentorship and professional development for employees, fellows, and interns.Organizational Experience: Direct experience in social justice, organizing, and/or movement building organizations. Experience with racial justice, centering anti-Blackness, intersectional analysis, LGBTQ, trans, youth organizing, immigrant rights, disability justice, and/or LGBTQ movements.Trustworthy & Collaborative: Excellent judgment and the ability to manage personally identifiable information and human resources-related information with a high degree of professionalism, sensitivity, and discretion. Excellent relationship and trust building capabilities and a demonstrated track record building, leading, and managing teams; serving as a coach and mentor to staff across a range of areas. The ability to communicate in Spanish and or American Sign Language (ASL) effectively is a plus.
