Seek Live-in Aide/roommate/big brother/sister-type relationship in two-bedroom, two bathroom, pet-free apartment provided in Fairfax, VA. Included are all utilities, cable, parking, facilities such as gym and social areas. The actual location you will work daily will alternate between this Fairfax apartment near George Mason University (where you will live) and an apartment in our house (parents’ house; apartment includes small kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room) in Falls Church, VA. We need assistance and encouragement by a kind, fun, competent, articulate english-speaking, reliable person to help transition our son (a fine artist/painter with a sweet disposition and mild autism) back to staying overnight more often at his Fairfax apartment. Hours are very dependent on how much you are interested in working, TBD. The maximum would be 6 a.m. - 2 a.m. 7 days a week if you live with client.
Duties: daily tasks such as light cleaning, drive to art lessons, piano lessons, activities, doctor appointments, go on walks and know how to gently encourage mild physical and social activities. Must be a non-smoker and very safe driver with good driving record. (Car will be provided to drive our son to and from activities). Being able to meal plan healthy meals and cook them is a must, and it would be preferred for our son to be involved in shopping, cooking and planning. (He enjoys cooking shows and this would be a fun activity.) Our son responds well to warm, caring people with a good sense of humor, and has a very pure heart that everyone who works with him comes to know. He loves to paint, play piano, read, play games like Zelda, Pokemon and Mario, Playstation, go to/watch movies, and watch some TV shows like Star Wars, Great British Baking Show, and Glow Up, etc. It would be a great asset if you would watch shows and play some of his favorite video games with him.
We hire our aides through Consumer Direct Services, we can start an employment application for you as soon as you are hired; the turnaround is quick and does require a background check. Clearance for becoming a live in aide goes through Fairfax County, so may take a little longer to be approved to actually move into the apartment, which is available February 1. The salary is $17.62/hour with 2 weeks a year sick leave. Please submit references and resume.
