Restaurant Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Restaurant Supervisor's primary duty is the performance of non-manual office work directly related to the management and general business operations of the Hotel. The Restaurant Supervisor customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more other employees in managing the operations of the Restaurant in an effective and efficient manner. The Restaurant Supervisor regularly makes suggestions/recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other change of status of employees under his/her supervision, which are given particular weight by the Restaurant Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Restaurant Supervisor and do not constitute an all-inclusive list.

Consistently promotes a positive, professional image of the Hotel at all times.

Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including but not limited to:

Supervises Restaurant staff, including but not limited to, determining/adjusting schedules to meet the needs of the restaurant, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures such as food sanitation and safety procedures, evaluating guest service experience to make sure it’s within standards, issuing oral and written corrective actions, and making suggestions/recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other change of status of employees.

Maintaining the consistency of the guest dining experience and brand standards.

Delegating work assignments, providing job oversight and correcting work deficiencies.

Maintaining open communication with employees and the Restaurant Manager to ensure any problems or situations involving guests, the hotel and/or staff are addressed.

Demonstrating initiative that supports the Company’s vision, mission, and value statements.

Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of, and compliance with, the Company’s rules, policies, and procedures, as contained in the employee handbook and consistently and appropriately enforcing them.

Developing and implementing creative strategies to increase revenue.

Achieving and maintaining budgeted covers.

Responsible for developing, implementing and assessing in-house promotions.

Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of restaurant area before, during and after meal periods.

4. Consistently demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and interactions with the front desk and other departments to ensure that guest needs are met.

5. Assists the Restaurant Manager in training employees, including but not limited to guest services, brand standards, hotel policies and procedures and all POS systems.

6. Perform manager on duty responsibilities as assigned.

7. Performs other duties and/or tasks assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements:

Possess a high school diploma or GED.

Two (2) or more years’ experience in the specific department field. Other related experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position may be considered.

One (1) or more year's supervisory experience. Other related experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position may be considered.

Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to prioritize multiple projects correctly.

Ability to effectively lead, supervise, and train employees and interns, and evaluate assigned personnel.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to work with a high level of independence in judgment and decision making with results-based reviews.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and to provide excellent service to guests.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job.

Short Term Goals:

Help improve the Hotels GSS scores to 80% or better by year-end.

Motivate the restaurant staff.
