We are looking to fill a part-time (with possible opportunity for full-time) Production Assistant position in our Washington, DC kitchen.
Please note - we are looking specifically for production positions, NOT flavor development or bakers or dessert chefs. Specific kitchen experience is helpful but not required.)
A Production Assistant job includes:
Making ice cream and sorbet using our batch freezer
Making various inclusions for our ice creams, including jams, crumbles, cookies, and cakes
Lifting heavy objects (3-gallon boxes of ice cream, 25-30lbs bags of sugar, flour, crates of milk as well as full 5-gallon buckets throughout the day)
Food preparation (washing, chopping, juicing, etc.)
Washing dishes and maintaining our food safety policies
The ideal candidate for this position:
Is highly organized and detail-oriented
Has basic knife skills and is comfortable using kitchen equipment
Can maintain a high-energy work atmosphere
Excels at multi-tasking (at least 3 or 4 different projects simultaneously!)
Has familiarity with basic cooking measurements (tsp, Tbsp, cup, pint, quart, oz/grams, etc.)
Is able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (your time in the kitchen will be on your feet)
Is able to reach, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
Is cognizant of and motivated to maintain a clean, tidy, and sanitary work area
We provide on-the-job training and are looking for reliable, organized people that can learn quickly and feel comfortable working independently.
