Hog Haven Farm seeking help for its farmers market operation in the Merrifield and surrounding areas.
We are a family run hog farm who also vends hot food (made on-site breakfast sandwiches featuring the pork we raise) at multiple farmers market locations in the area (mostly weekend mornings) [www.HogHavenFarm.com].
We need both cooks and front-of-booth salespeople. Some kitchen and/or front house restaurant experience a plus, but will train the right candidates. Preference given to those comfortable in both the front and the back.
Most shifts are weekend mornings, 4 to 6 hours per shift, at locations mostly in NoVa, some in DC and MD. Location you work from shift to shift will generally vary. Prefer candidates that drive and are willing to go where needed.
Especially in need of those that have a vehicle that can and are willing to carry supplies to and from the market (extra comp for this).
Preference also given to those willing to work some hours Friday afternoons and after the weekend markets at our Merrifield warehouse, helping to clean up and reset for the next day's markets.
Compensation is starting base of $12.50 per hour, plus tips and commissions at the markets. For market hours will consistently take home $25+/hr (there is a 3 shift paid training period, base only). Worker discount also offered and 1 free sandwich per shift. Warehouse hours pay base+$1 (consideration for raises to base pay given to those that work at the warehouse sooner than to those working at the markets).

Please further note that this is not an ideal position for someone who is unemployed or otherwise has nothing else going on during the week, as it is only part-time. Do not apply if you have no other work at the moment, unless you have a very compelling reason for doing so. The position requires a considerable amount of training.
