DC West African restaurant (Spicy Water African Grill) located on U street is currently seeking an experienced Cashier/Line Cook. The perfect candidate will be energetic, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and reliable. They should possess excellent customer services and communication skills, and should be able to multi-task in a fast-past environment. The job requires the candidate to navigate between the cash register and the kitchen. Previous experience in the food industry as a prep, cook, line cook, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities as a cashier:
- Learn and understand the menu and being able to process the POS fast
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently
- Scan and bag items for customers
- Assist with answering customer inquiries and resolving any issues
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
-Physical Requirements (must meet physical requirements of the position)
Responsibilities as a line cook:
-Help to prepare food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients
-Plating prepared foods
-Working with food runners to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
-Follow presentation specifications
-Restock items as needed throughout the shift
-Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
-Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
