The Folger Shakespeare Library, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, is seeking a temporary part-time Facilities Coordinator to join the Facilities team! This individual, under the supervision of the Director of Operations (DO), will work to ensure that all physical spaces are reset to default, evaluate space usage based on our events-scheduling software and active work orders, and work with our contracted facilities service to implement.

The standard schedule for this role is Monday-Friday morning hours for 20 hours per week with some flexibility for other weekly times as demands vary. This is a temporary position till approximately the end of November with a possibility for slight extension. This position works onsite. The selected candidate will need to be within a commutable distance to the D.C. office (DC, MD, VA) by their start date.

Compensation:

This is a weekly-paid position, with a pay of $25/hr.

Duties:

Evaluates daily and weekly building schedule for cleaning, furniture, and other facilities-related needs; prepares work lists and layouts for custodial team; communicates issues, conflicts, and challenges to event or meeting stakeholders.

Walks exterior grounds to observe landscaping, maintenance, and signage issues; resolves issues or reports to custodial or facilities team members.

Walks interior public spaces to observe cleanliness, layout, and maintenance needs; resets rooms for daily use to default state or as otherwise needed based on daily events; coordinates cleaning and waste removal

Walks interior staff spaces such as kitchens, break rooms, meeting room, and other common areas; resets or tidy areas as needed; notes low stock of consumables; restocks consumables as needed; reports custodial or maintenance issues to their respective teams.

Coordinates landscaping work: compiles landscaping needs, observations from staff, and seasonal requests; communicates to landscaping contractor; reviews contractor work after service calls.

Coordinates pest control work: compiles pest needs and observations from staff; communicates to pest contactor; reviews work with contractor during service calls.

Serves as a facilities team escort for contractors, as needed.

Attends events meetings; evaluate events for facilities needs; reads reports and compile work lists to enable room setups for events.

Works with Operations Team and Visitor Experience Managers to schedule custodial team sufficient to support programming, events, and daily operations.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in facilities or events management (or similar) at a cultural or hospitality venue.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred but not required.

Prior experience with event scheduling software, such as Artifax, is desired.

Ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
