Would you like to join a specialized team of Math Tutors? Do you have a car? We are looking for few good men and women that would like to use their math skills and personality to help students excel in the Northern VA area! Here are some more details:
Job Title: Math Tutor I
General Responsibilities:
Plans and facilitates collaborative tutoring sessions for students enrolled in math courses. Tutoring hours are normally Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends. This is subject to change. All tutoring is done in either a neutral location such as library, restaurant, school or online through Zoom, Facetime or Skype. (No tutoring will be done in home without express written consent of parents). Tutors will typically work 15-20 hours per week.
Major Duties:
1. Attends two mandatory tutor training meetings.
2. Plans and facilitates tutoring sessions utilizing collaborative learning methodologies.
3. Assists students in the development of appropriate study skills.
4. Maintains consistent communication with supervisory staff.
5. Models appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, parents and students.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
First and foremost, have love for students and love for math. Ability to work with different levels of students of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills. Possess characteristics of responsibility, desire to help others, discretion and flexibility. Knowledge of basic academic skills application and the ability to demonstrate the successful application of various academic skills. Ability to work independently and in team environment applying critical thinking skills and problem solving to various situations.
Qualifications:
Must have at least 2 years’ experience in tutoring math (Open to all levels). Willing to travel to location up to 20 minutes away with own transportation. Completion of at least 45 credit hours of undergraduate coursework at college and earned a GPA of 3.2 or better in math classes. Tutor must past interview test in specified subject. Unexcused and excessive absences or unsatisfactory performances will be grounds for dismissal.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $17.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on subject and experience
Benefits: Flexible schedule
Schedule: Night shift /Weekends as needed
Supplemental pay types: Bonus opportunities / Signing bonus
