Part-Time Personal Assistant / Organizer

Hours: 15–25 hours/week (flexible; 10 hours guaranteed)

I’m looking for a reliable, hands-on personal assistant to support me — a busy professional — and help care for my 80-year-old mother who lives nearby. You’ll be responsible for keeping in close contact with me, staying organized, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. This is a long-term, part-time role with flexible hours and varied tasks.

Most work will be in person (at our homes or nearby), though some tasks can be done remotely. In-person work can generally be scheduled in advance. You should be generally available for calls and messages during weekday hours, though not always on-demand. You will keep track of hours worked and be paid per hour.

Long-term: We want someone who expects to be available for two years or more. This job could work well for a semi-retired person, a parent with children in school, or anyone who is looking for consistent part-time work. This will not be a good fit if you are looking for a full-time role elsewhere, or you will stay for less than two years.

Key Responsibilities:

- Stay in close communication and help manage shifting priorities

- Provide regular assistance to my elderly mother (errands, appointments, household tasks)

- Manage Airbnb rental (coordinate cleanings, guest messages, light staging)

- Run errands and coordinate with vendors and services

- Handle online transactions, including two-factor authentication logins, filling out web forms, and switching browsers when needed

- Organize papers, spaces, and materials

- Schedule and follow up on appointments

- Oversee / perform occasional home maintenance and repairs

- Light tidying or cleanup occasionally (a separate cleaning service handles regular cleaning)

- Support ongoing projects

Requirements:

- Trustworthy, discreet, and dependable — you’ll eventually have access to my home and credit card, and my work is sensitive

- Excellent communication and follow-through; highly organized and proactive

- Technology: comfortable with online accounts, form-filling, login security, and troubleshooting basic browser issues

- Able to lift 15 pounds

- Must live locally (success will require convenience for both of us) and be comfortable getting around DC. You should have a valid driver’s license (but car not required)

- Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement

- Working cell phone
