Enrolled Agent (EA) – Tax Filing Specialist at Zccounting
Remote | Full-time or Part-time | $65,000–$80,000 DOE + Bonus
About Us
Zccounting is a national accounting and bookkeeping firm serving early-stage startups, venture-backed founders, and high-growth entrepreneurs. With offices in Seattle and Washington, D.C., we provide everything from tax strategy and compliance to virtual CFO services. Our clients are building the future—we’re here to make sure the IRS doesn’t get in the way.
About the Role
We’re looking for a licensed Enrolled Agent (EA) with UltraTax experience to join our growing tax team. You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, c-corp, and S-Corp tax returns, managing client communication during tax season and beyond, and advising on tax-saving strategies for founders, freelancers, and startup teams.
This Role Is Perfect for You If You:
Want to work with interesting startup clients instead of punching numbers for W-2 households all day
Know UltraTax inside and out and can crank through returns quickly and accurately
Enjoy finding smart, legal ways to save clients money and make them feel taken care of
Want flexibility, autonomy, and a seat at the table in a growing firm with national reach
Responsibilities:
Prepare and review 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S returns using UltraTax
Work directly with clients to collect tax documents, answer questions, and provide updates
Research tax questions and provide strategic guidance on topics like entity selection, quarterly estimates, and founder compensation
Collaborate with our bookkeeping and CFO services teams to ensure clean financials and smooth filings
Stay up to date on tax law changes and startup-specific tax strategies (QBI, 1202 stock, R&D credit, etc.)
Requirements:
Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license
3+ years of hands-on experience preparing business and individual tax returns
Strong proficiency with UltraTax
Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you’ll be client-facing
Familiarity with startup founders, VC-backed businesses, or service-based small businesses is a big plus
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively with the team
Perks:
Flexible hours with seasonal bonuses for hitting deadlines and delighting clients
Growth path into tax strategy, team leadership, or client advisory roles
Smart, kind teammates and a founder who actually appreciates tax people
To Apply:
Send your resume and a quick note about why you’re interested. Bonus points if you include a story about saving a client money or handling a tough tax situation.
