Role PurposeReporting to the Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs – NBCUniversal is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the team responsible for advising business units subject to federal regulatory requirements by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as engaging in related communications and technology policy issues. Candidate must have demonstrated experience in the broadcast media and/or digital content industry, and must possess superior analytical, problem-solving and communication (verbal and written) skills.Job DutiesCounsel NBCUniversal-owned television stations, broadcast/cable networks, streaming/digital platforms, theme parks and other regulated businesses on federal legal requirements, including but not limited to: content regulation, media ownership, sponsorship identification, political advertising, accessibility, retransmission consent, network affiliation, spectrum management, and broadcast and facility licensingMonitor rulemaking and other proceedings at federal agencies, and where relevant, assist with the development of policy positions and commentsEngage in advocacy before the FCC, FTC and other federal agencies, including in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., trade associations)Provide legal advice relating to accessibility laws and regulations governing televised and digital video programming, including closed captioning and audio descriptionAnalyze certain legislative and rulemaking proposals impacting televised and streaming video programming, including privacy, children’s marketingAdvise on emerging media policy areas, including artificial intelligence, algorithmic activity and content moderation issues (e.g., Sec. 230)
