The College seeks to expand the imagination, foster the life of the spirit, cultivate lifelong learning, encourage service to God and humanity, and promote respect for diversity in an age of global community.Job OverviewThe Senior Events Coordinator serves as the lead for planning, coordination and execution of all events managed within the CAS Dean’s Office. There are more than 50 events per year that vary in scale and complexity, both on and off the University campus. Events include, but are not limited to, Faculty Convocation, Parents’ Weekend, Family Weekend, Commencement, Dean’s Office meetings and receptions, and academic and fundraising events. Some events, such as Commencement, involve complex, year-long coordination with diverse stakeholders and multiple processes and tasks that culminate in the final event.They also serve as the lead on events for the George F. Bakers Scholars Program, in support of the mission of CAS. The Baker Scholars Program is a 45-year-old signature, prestigious and distinctive program for CAS students, whereby students are relieved of loans and work study to perform valuable community service and prepared for careers in business and community-service-based entrepreneurship.The Senior Events Coordinator is highly organized - able to anticipate needs, develop realistic budgets and work within those parameters, and set priorities and meet deadlines with little supervision. They necessarily work well under pressure and ably resolve unanticipated challenges in a way that is minimally disruptive to the event.Work Interactions and Work Mode DesignationReporting to the CAS Chief of Staff, the Senior Events Coordinator interacts internally with CAS deans, faculty, staff and students, University offices (e.g., Advancement, President’s Office, Provost’s Office, Financial Affairs) - and externally with service providers or stakeholders, such as donors. They also work closely with Baker Scholars students, trustees and alumni in support of the program’s event planning and execution.This position has been designated as On-Campus. Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing events end-to-end, with a preference for experience in a University setting

Demonstrated experience managing high-profile events, including planning, coordination, execution, and managing guests and VIPs

Superior organizational abilities, attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize

Ability to manage budget and financial processes related to the event coordination

Ability to assess and evaluate procedures, events, or meetings, and to skillfully respond to recommendations for improvements and changes

Professional, service-oriented demeanor; a gracious attitude; and discerning sense of judgment, taste, and tact; a gracious attitude is essential to the position’s success

Excellent interpersonal skills in coordination and communication with constituents, including executive-level administrators, faculty, students, and staff

Desire to join a cohesive team and collegial office environment

Experience using scheduling, database, and word processing applications, including Google Suite, Microsoft, Zoom, Box, etc.

Availability and willingness to travel and to work evening/weekend hours
