Description:Assists the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patientsPerforms designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operationsUnder the supervision of the licensed Pharmacist, prepares oral, topical, and all parenteral medications for dispensing to patients, including the selection, labeling, and packaging of appropriate pharmaceuticals using appropriate IV equipment, and filling of medication cartsEnters physician orders into the hospital computer system to update/edit patient profiles and chargesAssists patients, nurses, physicians, and others with medication order requests and pharmacy related needsMonitors stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas and replenishes medications as neededConducts monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areasFills and replaces medications in the automated medication dispensing machines and transports to appropriate nursing unit(s)Prepares IV admixtures using aseptic techniques, including STATS, parenteral nutrition bags, and cytotoxic agentsDelivers and retrieves medications, including narcotics, and pharmacy supplies to/from patient care and satellite pharmacy areasCompounds products in bulk, or per individual order, and prepares private stock orders and individual unit-of-use packaging, when not otherwise availableCompletes and maintains controlled substance inventory log/recordsDay shift Hours: M-F 8am -430pm NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS . OT may be in affect but no more then two hours. Depends on volumes.Additional Skills & Qualifications:1 years of hospital experience Required1 year of Oncology/Chemo Required DC Department of Health (DOH) registration Required Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent national certification Requires ability to read and write, knowledge of grammar, medical terminology, and proficiency in basic mathematics, including fractions and decimal, and keyboard skillsAbout Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
