Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the National Air and Space Museum which is the most visited Museum in the world. Upwards of nine million people each year visit the National Air and Space Museum in the National Mall Building and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (UHC) in Chantilly, Virginia. Responsibilities The Budget Analyst position is responsible for various functions in the financial management arena. These functions include, but are not limited to budget formulation, budget execution, financial systems management, administrative management, and technical advisor. In this position, you will: Ensure program requirements are translated into funding requirements, prioritized, and available funds are efficiently distributed to support museum operations, objectives, and goals. Use analytical methods and techniques to perform in-depth analysis of budget requests by exploring program tradeoffs and location alternative methods of funding. Forecast funding needs and cost trends and advises program managers on the status of their finds and the availability of funding from various source. Manage aspects of the federal and trust budget process including but not limited to budget planning, formulation, presentation, allocation, execution, tracking and reporting. Advise NASM Leaders on policies and procedures, proper recordkeeping procedures, and the appropriate use of various funding types. Qualifications GS-11 Experience: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service or comparable pay band system related to the work of the position. For this position, specialized experience is defined as formulating budgets and tracking their execution; using analytical tools to provide in-depth analysis of budget requests; and preparing budget and/or forecasts and projections for an organization. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
