The Health and Safety Coordinator will work in collaboration with all City departments and employee groups to foster a culture of safety and support supervisory and managerial staff on coordination and implementation of a robust health and safety program.  Under the direction of the management team the Health and Safety Coordinator will analyze operating procedures, materials, and equipment conditions at work sites, to determine risks of injuries and occupational disease. Responsibilities also include assisting management to develop and implement measures for controlling workplace hazards and limiting loss and liability for City.
In partnership with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC), the incumbent is responsible for monitoring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, legislation and employment standards, and all City policies, programs and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
This position is required to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and assist in the development of practical controls for safety hazards and compliance.
