Photonics Engineer/Researcher-Washington/D.C. Area Photonics Engineer/Researcher-D.C. Minimum Requirements: MS degree in Photonic- or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics or related field with experience or extensive classwork in design, fabrication, and/or characterization of optoelectronic components and photonic integrated circuits. Must exhibit repeatedly demonstrated experience with the design and layout of electronic-photonic integrated circuits for fabrication in commercial and/or government foundries. Must exhibit a strong understanding of optical, electrical, and thermal properties of passive and active/RF devices and materials. Experience with photonic simulation tools (e.g., mode solvers, FDTD, beam propagation) and electronic-photonic design and layout tools is required Candidates with experience in photonic neural networks, reconfigurable photonic compute systems, and/or PIC-based information processing are especially encouraged to apply. Knowledge of electronic-photonic fabrication processes (e.g., lithography, deposition, etching) is desirable. A creative understanding on hardware-algorithm mapping is a plus. Creative problem solvers and energetic teamplayers are highly encouraged to apply.
