Software Support EngineerThe

Software Support Engineer position is responsible for ongoing support and testing of external software on Konica Minolta-branded printers, products & platforms in order to ensure that the products produced meet the needs of the market. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join and work with the latest office technologies and help shape future technologies. As a member of a small team, the successful candidate will be able to play an important role in the evolution of Konica Minolta's device platforms while working with the latest technologies.

Essential Job FunctionsIn addition to a strong technical background the ideal candidate should show the ability to think critically, gather information and problem solve in a team environment. The candidate will need to become an expert in their related technologies and be willing to support others in usage of these platforms.
  • Lead software quality testing on third-party applications developed for Konica Minolta MFPs and deployed to multiple operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, Linux, UNIX).
  • Oversee reporting on defects found within applications during testing.
  • Maintain and prepare certification test environment and equipment.
  • Work with multiple network operating systems (Microsoft, Apple, Linux, UNIX) and protocols.
  • Support third party partners with their development, including analysis of logs for identifying issues in network protocols.
  • Evaluate and support sample applications produced by Konica Minolta prior to their release.
  • Develop sample applications for distribution to third parties, as required.
  • Maintenance of support website, as needed.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Must have knowledge of the following technologies:
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C#/.net, Python, JavaScript (node.js), Go, PHP)
  • A demonstrated aptitude to test software applications on Windows, Macintosh, Unix and Linux platforms.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive regression testing.
  • Familiar with all Microsoft Office applications such as Project, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiar with various web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivating and self-learning.
  • Ability to perform network protocol analysis using wireshark or tcpdump.
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
  • Web Technologies: HTML5, Javascript, CSS3, JSON. WebSockets, WebRTC, SOAP/XML are a plus.
  • Networking training or certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of PC networking and Network Operating Systems is a plus.
  • Proficient using Linux/Unix from a terminal is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Virtual Machine software (VirtualBox, VMWare, etc) is a plus.

Experience, Educational Requirements and CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree concentration & 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
